Looking for a job can be stressful and can often feel like a tireless journey. One great way to start making connections and get an interview is to begin networking. Networking is the activity of interacting with others to exchange information and knowledge, develop professional skills, and create connections.

A network lets you reach more people who can help you find the right job for you. Our Leadership Teams have three tips for networking that can help you create meaningful connections in Battle Creek. 

Create Connections

Start creating connections everywhere you go. Talk to local business owners, talk to their employees, and invite your neighbors over for dinner or a game night. People you interact with every day may just have the connections you need to kick-start your next career.

Attend Events

Battle Creek is a vibrant city with a variety of events. From Ignite BC to Netwalking (that’s networking and walking) with the Battle Creek Chamber of Commerce, there are plenty of opportunities in our city to find an event that can interest you. Make sure to follow the Chamber of Commerce on Facebook to see all of their upcoming events and visit the Calhoun County Visitors Bureau website for all the current events in the city.

Help Others

Networking is all about forming connections. Don’t take a one-sided approach to it. Help others in your network get connected to the resources and people they need. You can even help them find a job or introduce them to a person who can help them grow professionally.
