Empowering Our Students
For Battle Creek to thrive, all students, regardless of race, gender, or socio-economic background, need to be able to pursue career and life paths that lead to economic stability. We want all students to be empowered to achieve their full potential.
Our goals are to improve kindergarten readiness and increase college and career readiness for all students.
Strategies that were developed by our community to bolster kindergarten readiness include:
Promote a shared, county-wide definition of kindergarten readiness.
Adopt early education as an explicit workforce development strategy.
Increase the quality of early learning experience through training and coaching for teachers.
Strengthen and better coordinate policies and services that support kindergarten readiness.
Help more children gain access to high-quality and culturally appropriate early learning opportunities.
To increase college and career readiness, we are working hard to:
Create an equitable culture of academic and career pathways for students.
Promote an excellent, equitable, quality pre-K to 16 education system in the greater Battle Creek area.
The Battle Creek community has a clear vision for our students. To be able to realize that vi-sion, we have to understand the current state of education in our community, and then build upon that knowledge.
Our action teams are working hard to increase college and career readiness in our community. Check back here soon for more information about our current initiatives.
